Framing: Studio 54 meets Verdi Studios | Bespoke picture framing in Chadwell Heath, Essex.

There’s nothing quite like framing a piece that instantly transports you to another era, and this recent project did exactly that!

Our small family-run framing workshop in Chadwell Heath, Essex had the pleasure of framing this incredible late 1970s photograph of Michael Jackson and Diana Ross enjoying themselves at the legendary Studio 54 in New York City. The energy in the image is unmistakable - the smiles, the fashion, the atmosphere… What a vibe!

The brief

The customer wanted something truly special to complement the glamour and nostalgia of the print, so we designed and handcrafted a bespoke double frame tailored specifically to the artwork. The combination of mouldings created depth and presence without overpowering the image itself, allowing the photograph to remain the star of the show while adding a luxurious gallery-style finish.

The mount

For this project, Parm used traditional hand-cut mount cutting techniques to create a precision-finished archival mount perfectly proportioned to the print. Unlike mass-produced computer-cut mounts, hand-cutting allows us complete flexibility when working with unique artwork sizes and bespoke framing designs. The mount was carefully measured and cut to enhance the composition of the image while providing visual breathing space around the artwork.

The double frame

The frame itself is a made-to-measure double frame; Combining two complementary mouldings creates additional depth, shadow detail, and a premium finish. Every element was selected specifically for this individual piece, ensuring a one-of-a-kind result.

The print

The photograph was produced as an archival matte print, which felt absolutely perfect for the iconic Studio 54 atmosphere captured in the image. The soft matte finish gives the piece a timeless, almost cinematic quality.
